About Us

Winterbury Training is a friendly and experienced professional training company based in South Wiltshire. Founded in 2017 to meet local demand, we are passionate about sharing our expertise and knowledge to improve the life chances of others through specialist training which can be tailored where appropriate. We deliver training using a variety of methods including face to face courses, virtual in-person learning and eLearning programmes, depending upon the qualifications and topics being taught. Delegates can join us on our open courses or we can send an instructor to your location to deliver training on-site or at a local venue. About Us

Winterbury Training offers nationally recognised qualifications in first aid, providing comprehensive training to businesses and individuals. Our training sessions are available as in-person teaching, as well as a blend of in-person and online depending on the course. Also, we offer the option of joining one of our Winterslow based courses, or selecting a specific course for an instructor to lead on-site. Meet Carolyn

With a BA (Hons) in Business Management and a PGCE in Business Education, Carolyn is the lead instructor at Winterbury Training. She has over 20 years’ experience in education and children’s services, as well as a decade of experience in leading first aid training. She has worked as an Emergency Response Assistant during COVID-19 and a Community First Responder with South West Ambulance Service NHS Trust. She is also a qualified teacher with experience in teaching primary, secondary and sixth form students, plus has experience working for Railtrack, Boots, BNFL, and British Airways and has previously worked as Regional Manager for Play England, Wiltshire Council Play Officer and Childcare Development Officer for Wiltshire Council and as a self-employed childminder. With a vast wealth of knowledge, her sessions are informative, engaging and interactive. Making sure you have fully understood the content, Carolyn expertly guides you through the material, helping you gain your qualifications. She is also always at the ready to provide insight and a touch of well-placed humour to assist your learning however she can.

Meet Simon

Holding a BSc (Hons) in Chemistry, a PhD in Electrochemistry, a Level 3 Award in Education and Training, IOSH Managing Safely, Level 3 STA Pool Plant Operator Certificate, and a PRINCE 2 Practitioner, Simon is passionate about delivering courses with Winterbury Training. He has over 30 years of experience training and assessing in the leisure industry, including first aid, and a decade of service as a Community First Responder with the South West Ambulance Service NHS Trust. He also has extensive experience in risk assessment and management in research and development in high-risk environments, in both the public and private sectors. Simon uses his charisma and relevant anecdotes to help you engage with the course material. If ever you have a question, he is happy to help you find the answer.

Meet Nell

Nell holds her Level 3 Award in Education and Training and has a wealth of experience providing health and safety services and instruction. With 35 years of pharmaceutical manufacture, an ILM L3 Award in Leadership and Management, an IOSH qualification in Managing Safely, and an IQA for RLSS, she is a competent and knowledgeable trainer here at Winterbury Training. She is an RLSS Survive and Save Instructor with Salisbury Lifesaving Club, an ASA Swimming Teacher and Level 2 Swimming Coach, and has over 30 years of swimming teaching experience. Within this time this has included lifesaving, lifeguarding, learn to swim programs, and competitive swimming coaching, including Masters.

One of the main things that makes Winterbury truly special is our dedication to teaching. We enjoy leading these courses, so want you to enjoy them just as much. Through our friendly nature, practical examples, and anecdotes, we encourage lively and passionate learning. We also respect that some of the topics discussed can be quite heavy, so we aim to support our groups through this however we can.
